BIOGRAPHY
Brian Ledwidge Flynn (MA Mus.) is an Irish born Composer, Guitar player, Producer and Music Tutor living in Dortmund, Germany.
Brian's compositional process is largely influenced by how music can affect our perception of time. His compositions and productions often employ the use of traditional chamber instrumentation in combination with 1/4" and Compact Cassette Tape to infuse the works with an ethereal quality, physicality and unpredictability typical of the medium.
Brian's scores are often devised so as to produce an incommensurable outcome; pieces that, through the presentation of 'choice' options to the performers within a strict framework results in an auditory experience that is both still and unchanging yet never the same.
Flynn's compositions are performed internationally from the Art Cafés of Berlin to the concert halls of Taipei by a wide variety of artists, ensembles and bands.
Brian's sync library compositions & productions for radio, television & multi-media are regularly licensed worldwide by national broadcasters, advertisers, film makers, video game developers and content creators.
Flynn is a founding member of the Irish Composers' Collective, The Magnetic State Cassette Label [Berlin], the Make Believe Sync Library and The Engine Room Orchestra [Silent Movie Ensemble] amongst other endeavours relating to the larger music community.
Flynn's scores & works are archived in the Contemporary Music Center, Fishamble Street, Dublin, Ireland.
In addition to his work as a composer and producer, Brian is an experienced and enthusiastic tutor for composition, production and guitar, bass & piano and has executed this role in both universities and schools since arriving in his adopted home of Germany in 2011.
