I am often been inspired, through my engagement with works by composers such as Béla Bartók and Eric Satie to explore non-linear forms or structure. In the case of 'ARC', a matrix of tonalities, expressed as modes and chord degrees are woven into a lattice according to the divisional point (and subsequent nested divisional points) prescribed by the Golden Section (Phi Φ).
As a result, every larger event in the piece relates to a series of smaller events as one might find with a fractal. The use of nested parameters can be found in all aspects of the musical content, such as the melodic line or when the lowest register is employed etc..
Below is a section of the timeline of the piece illustrating the Φ moments whereat significant modal, melodic, rhythmic and structural events or shifts occur.

"ARC" received its public premiere on Apr 12th, 2025 in the Lionel Hampton University of Idaho, USA performed by Maya Monteblanco [Cello] and Jacob Johnson [Piano]
